This year's saturday night headliner - the amazing Blockheads

 
   

 

giginthepark, East Anglia’s premier music festival, held 1-3rd August in Halesworth Town Park, Suffolk can now confirm that this year’s headline acts will include:

The Blockheads, Hugh Cornwell, Geno Washington, Pauline Black, The Bollywood Brass Band, Son of Dave, Audioporn and Lee Vasey plus many more national and local acts across 3 stages.

Now into its 11th year the festival has an enviable reputation for first class organization and production within the music industry with many of the volunteer crew taking a break from working with top name acts to soak up the festival’s unique vibe. As usual the festival will boast 3 stages of entertainment including the ever poplar Jungle stage, food from around the world and real ale bar with one of the longest mobile bars in the UK.

former Stranglers lead vocalist and guitarist Hugh Cornwell appears on saturday night. Hugh left the Stranglers in 1990 and has released 6 solo albums including the critically acclaimed ‘Beyond Elysian Fields
Headlining Friday night - Soul superstar Geno Washington makes a welcome return to the park following his show stopping performance in 2006.

Appearing with Geno will be Pauline Black. She previously appeared at the festival with the Selecter who had a string of hits in the early 80’s. Pauline, also an accomplished actor and TV presenter, is currently presenting BBC4’s Soul Brittania series.

 


indie art band Audioporn appeared at last year’s presenting their new concept album ‘A message from our sponsors’. Audioporn’s theatrical performance and mixture of monologues and vocals have ensured their popular return.
Also appearing sunday is one-man blues tour de force Son of Dave described by Dazed & confused as: “...a force of nature. Touring the globe with just a harmonica, a microphone and a stack of 45s for company.

Pauline Black, currently presenting BBC4’s Soul Brittania series, returns to giginthepark on friday night.

Also appearing are the Bollywood Brass band. the UK’s leading Indian wedding band playing hits from Indian films with a 6 piece Horn section underpinned by the funky beat of the dhol drum. Constantly in demand as performers they have appeared at many festivals including the Womad festival in the UK and Roskilde festival in Denmark.

Making their first appearance at Gig in the park will be local boys John Ward and Mario Price. John has supported many name artistes including Bill Wyman and has made several TV appearances and received critical acclaim in the Times newspaper. John is backed by fiddle player Mario Price himself an experienced musician and performer

Sunday will be headlined by the ever popular Lee Vasey and his big band. Lee always gets even the most reluctant dancing playing the soundtrack of your lives live from the 60’s to current hits. Sunday co headliners will be Halesworth stadium rockers Frontbum. The local boys promise to entertain with their full arena show and their alternative look at Halesworth life.
 
 
As always there is be a full line up of supporting acts across three stages over the three days and we have the cream of local talent and acts form outside East Anglia plus the usual safe and happy mix of entertainment, stalls, and a variety of food and drink from around the world.

giginthepark is a community run event, made possible by all the hard work of local people & businesses, most of whom give their time & services free of charge. This means we can keep ticket prices low & if any money is left over after all the bills have been paid we can make donations to local charities. So far giginthapark has donated over £9000 to local causes.
